# Custom fields

In addition to the built-in system fields, you can also add custom fields to customers and tickets to collect more information and help expand your business data.

Only roles with the "Administrator (admin)" permission have management rights and can add custom fields.

You can enter the management list via the "System" item in the FIRST LINE menu on the left by clicking the "Custom Fields" button.

Custom fields belong under a "Custom Field Category"; when you add a field,**you must first set up and add a custom field category.** 

## Add Custom Field Category

### **Data Type**

FIRST LINE differs from other systems on the market. After clicking the "Add" button, this category will determine whether the category you add is used for the "Ticket" or "Customer" data structure, and it is further divided into "Form" and "Table" types:

**Form Type**\
Fields in the same category are recorded only once, such as zodiac sign, blood type, height, and other data that do not need to be recorded repeatedly.

**Table Type**\
Fields in the same category form a single record set and multiple record sets can be added. This is usually used to record a customer's historical information, such as purchase records or medical history, which may have more than one record.

Select the type you need and press "Add" to go to the next settings page.

Once you save this category setting, you cannot change the data type field.

### **Category Name**

The display name of the category, such as Member Information, Family Information, etc. 

### **Description**

The description or notes for this category.

After saving the new "Custom Field Category", you can start adding and modifying fields yourself, such as by dragging to change the order of its dynamic fields.

## Add Custom Field

After you create a "Custom Field Category", click the field you dragged to edit it

The custom field interface will display as follows: 

1\. Belonging Category: the category to which the custom field belongs. \
2\. Field Name: display name, required field.\
3\. Description: supplementary explanation for this field; if entered, it will be shown next to the field label to remind the user.\
4\. Field Type: required field; determines the data type of this field. Once you save this category setting, you cannot change the type.\
5\. Default Value: once this is entered, when adding a "Ticket" or "Customer" for the first time, the value you set will be prefilled.\
6\. Is Required: if this is enabled, this custom field must be entered when adding or saving a "Ticket" or "Customer" in order to pass validation.
